The Classic Commercial movement has evolved from a small group of enthusiasts to a large and growing following of likeminded individuals.
From small beginnings, small groups and individuals such as the Thunder Birds club and Bert Watchorn in the North island and Bill Richardson and Southern Classic Commercials founder, John Sime, have come of age.
A boom in classic and vintage heavy vehicle restoration has seen significant numbers of trucks restored to their former glory by owners nationwide. Some prefer sticking with a single vehicle whilst others amass significant collections.
This has also resulted in a growing number of truck museums popping up, some in the most unexpected places.
The Northern Classic Commercials and Southern Classic Commercials groups hold small local runs as well as organising the massive biennial Inter Island two week truck runs which attract upwards of 150 participants and over 100 classic trucks.
